ClariVein Procedure Los Angeles

ClariVein has been shown to effectively treat and eliminate varicose veins. A lot of our patients choose this method because of the limited risks and minimal discomfort.


  • An ultrasound is performed before treatment.
  • Due to its non-invasive nature, this procedure requires only a small amount of local anesthetic to be administered.
  • The tip of the catheter is positioned at the top of the vein to stimulate the inner lining.
  • As the tip rotates, sclerosant solution is infused through the end of the catheter causing the vein to seal.

Diet And Activity

Begin with soups and slowly advance your diet to regular healthy foods for as long as you are free of any nausea or vomiting. Drink at least 4-6 glasses of liquids a day to avoid dehydration and constipation. If you are a patient under the care of a bariatric surgeon, please follow the dietary instructions given to you by our nutritional team.

Upon returning home, you should rest comfortably for the next 24 hours. Do not drive while taking pain medications or have pain. Avoid heavy exercise and limit lifting to 10 lbs or less for six weeks.

Incisions And Medications

Do not remove any of the dressings or bandages. Your physician will remove them for you during your first post-op appointment. You may not shower until cleared by your physician. Once cleared to shower, the only bandages that should remain in place are the white strips that are directly placed to cover your incisions. Do not remove these. They will naturally lose adhesiveness and fall off on their own, or your physician may choose to remove them when appropriate. You don’t need to replace or change the gauze. Avoid baths, swimming, oceans and, hot tubs until approved by your doctor.

Dissolvable sutures will close your incisions. It is not unusual for a small amount of blood or fluid to escape from the wounds. Significant bleeding on the gauze is not normal. Please be sure to contact your physician if this occurs. Mild bruising after surgery is to be expected. This can be quite dramatic but is not dangerous. Any unusual pain or redness may indicate infection and should be reported to your surgeon. For any foul-smelling drainage or strange odors, please notify your physician.

Pain medications, Antibiotics and, Anti-Nausea medication will be prescribed; take this as needed and as directed. Please follow instructions and ask your physician if you are taking other medications. Do not drive while taking pain medications. Unless directed by your physician, avoid aspirin-type medications such as Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve and, Advil as these can cause ulcers and thinning of the blood that may lead to bleeding. Tylenol is suitable for minor pain. If you take blood pressure medications, please check your blood pressure before taking the medications. If your blood pressure is low, do not take them and contact your doctor. If you are taking diabetes medications, please check your blood sugars before taking the medications. If it is low, hold off from taking them and contact your physician managing your diabetes.

Follow-Up Appointments

Expect to receive a post-op phone call from the surgery center within 24 hours of your procedure. If we are unable to reach you, please return our request at your earliest convenience. Coming to your initial post-op appointment is essential. You will be seen in your physician’s clinic 1-2 days immediately after surgery, and then as frequently as your physician requires.

Please make sure to call the office if you cannot make the appointment that is given to you. The first appointment after your procedure is to check your incisions and ensure that you are recovering.
