Single Follicle Hair Grafts
Hair loss does not merely impact our appearance but has a tremendous influence on emotional well-being, causing frustration and embarrassment. It is estimated that approximately fifty to eighty million Americans, men and women, experience hair loss at some point in their lives. At PacificMed, we use single follicle hair grafts to help you regain a full head of hair and boost your self-confidence.
Natural Results, Minimal Downtime, Lon-Lasting Benefits
In recent years, single follicle hair grafts became embraced as the hair transplant treatment known for extremely natural results. This technique uses follicular unit extraction (FUE) to guarantee a less invasive procedure with no scalpel, no staples, no sutures and no noticeable scars. Hair restoration with single follicle hair grafts produces dramatic and long-lasting results while resulting in less downtime than most other hair loss techniques.
Are You the Right Candidate for a Hair Transplant?
Patients who experience hair loss but retain hair growth on the sides and back of the head tend to be excellent candidates for this procedure. Hair restoration using single follicle hair grafts requires sufficient donor hair for a successful transplantation. It’s important that you have reasonable expectations prior to the procedure. While you may expect this treatment to restore a full head of hair, it cannot bring back the same hair density that you’ve experienced in your youth.
Scheduling a Consultation
Scheduling a consultation is a crucial first step towards your single follicle hair grafting treatment. It allows your physician to carefully assess your situation and go over every step involved in the procedure. Our staff is known to dedicate a substantial amount of time to an in-person examination while building close personal rapport with patients prior to surgery. During the consultation, our experienced specialists will also make sure that you understand what to expect during the recovery process.
The Hair Transplantation Procedure
The single follicle hair graft treatment is performed on an outpatient basis. The first step involves shaving the sides and back of the head. Patients with long hair are not required to get a full buzz cut because only small areas need to be shaved for the procedure. These areas can then be covered by the existing hair. Patients with short hair will enjoy more natural results by shaving the hair close to the head.
The second step involves extracting grafts of one to four hairs from the shaved area. A single millimeter surgical punch ensures consistency and quality among the hair grafts. The small holes left at the extraction sites heal quickly and will not be noticeable within one week after the procedure. Once the hair grafts have been extracted, the hair will then be transplanted to the top and front of the head where hair loss has taken place.
What to Expect After the Procedure
The newly grafted hair will begin to grow two to four months after the hair transplantation procedure. You may expect the results to be natural and reveal a fuller head of hair. The benefits of hair restoration using single follicle hair grafts are long-lasting.
While this procedure can restore lost hair, it cannot prevent future hair loss from occurring. Some patients will need more than one treatment to maintain their results. Patients with progressive hair loss or those who wish for more hair density may require repeat procedures. With proper care and repeated treatments, you will be able to enjoy outstanding results and newfound confidence for many years.
