Rhinoplasty For Pacific Med
One of the most sought-after facial plastic surgeries, rhinoplasty is performed to enhance the appearance, structure, and function of the nose. At Pacific Med Health Group, our surgeons know that there is no universal type of rhinoplasty that will meet the needs of every patient. For this reason, we carefully customize this procedure for each patient, depending on his or her needs. Aside from correcting the shape of your nose or creating a more proportionate profile, this procedure can also treat nasal injuries, address birth defends, and even help relieve some breathing problems.
Why Choose Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty can reduce or enlarge your nose as well as reshape the bridge and nasal tip. This procedure may be indicated to modify wide nostrils, a nasal “hump,” a nasal tip that droops, a nose with a “ski slope” or “Bob Hope” appearance, among other problems. Aside from producing spectacular cosmetic results, rhinoplasty can also eliminate breathing troubles due to a deviated septum (the cartilage and bone dividing the nose in half). It is effectively used to repair a broken nose, correct deformities, and restore balance. Some of our patients express interest in rhinoplasty because they are unhappy with how their noses have aged. Others admit to always feeling self-conscious about the nose they were born with. During the consultation, one of our experienced surgeons will carefully go over your options and let you decide whether you want to perform rhinoplasty alone or combine it with a chin implant for more spectacular results. Oftentimes, even slight changes to the shape of the nose can produce a dramatic effect on appearance, improve your breathing, and fill you with self-confidence.
Preparing For The Procedure
Scheduling a consultation with your plastic surgeon is a crucial first step in undergoing a mommy makeover. During the consultation, one of our experienced plastic surgeons will carefully assess your needs and discuss your goals. Our mommy makeover specialists will walk you through every step involved in this treatment to make sure that you understand what to expect from the procedure. You and your surgeon will also discuss any prior medical conditions or drug allergies. Our staff will instruct you to quit smoking and avoid certain medications that may increase the risk of bleeding or complicate the recovery process.
What To Expect During The Procedure ?
Rhinoplasty requires only one surgical procedure lasting from two to three hours with the results proven to bring you satisfaction for the rest of your life. That being said, the duration of your procedure will depend on whether you choose to elect open or closed rhinoplasty. While closed rhinoplasty involves incisions made inside the nose only, the open approach calls for an incision under the nasal tip, between the nostrils, and lifting the skin to operate on the underlying nasal structure. Most of the time, ethnic rhinoplasty will be performed as an open procedure, which guarantees a greater precision and control of the underlying nasal structures. Regardless of whether you opt for the closed or open approach, the surgeon will use general anesthesia to ensure that there is no pain during surgery. In the course of the procedure, your nasal bones and cartilage may be removed or added to reduce or increase the size of your nose. The tip of your nose can, in turn, be remodeled by utilizing tip grafts made of cartilage, while fat grafts or tissue fillers may be used to add volume to desired areas.
Recovery After The Procedure
After surgery, you should plan on staying in bed with your head elevated during the first day following rhinoplasty and expect to resume your normal activities within one week. During this period, our surgeons and staff will follow up to ensure that you are going through a smooth recovery and, if necessary, prescribe medications to relieve any potential discomfort. Keep in mind that you should avoid any contact sports or strenuous activities for at least six weeks after your surgery. While it is not uncommon to note some bruising and swelling after the surgery, you should be able to observe the desired results in approximately six weeks. Some swelling may persist even after this period and take up to a year to resolve completely; such residual swelling is usually not noticeable to others. As swelling subsides, your results will continue to improve and, once your new nose settles, you can expect it to last you a lifetime.
